As one of the LA models I shot during my Los Angeles trip, Carly is the first to be shown here. A born and bred California girl, you might mistake her background and rugged attitude as native Texan, and her looks and charisma as pure Hollywood. Both would be wrong, but not far from the reality that is Carly Twisselman: model. actress. rodeo girl.
Michael: Give me some basic information about yourself… Like, where are you from?
Carly: I’m from a small town in central California called Shandon, population 700. I went to Shandon Elementary and High School and graduated with a class of 24 people, where I was valedictorian.
Michael: What are some of your main interests and hobbies?
Carly: My biggest interests and hobbies involve horses and rodeo. I grew up on a grain & cattle ranch – and horses have been a huge part of my life. I junior rodeoed, high school rodeoed, college rodeoed and now I rodeo professionally.
Other hobbies are: anything involved with the outdoors, camping, fishing, playing sports. My professional interests are acting, modeling and stunts. I love to perform and I love the adrenaline rush and feeling of accomplishment I get from it. My goal is to be a working actress.
Michael: What are five things you cant live without?
- My family
- My horses
- Food!! (In N Out Burger)
- My sleep
Michael: What are five facts about you that people may not know?
- I’m a tomboy.
- According to the doctor, I was supposed to be a boy so my parents were shocked when I was born.
- I used to wear glasses but I had LASIK surgery.
- I have never broken a bone in my body (just torn ligaments).
- My favorite color is black.
Michael: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life – what would it be?
Carly: IN N OUT!! <laughs> and Pinkberry frozen Yogurt. I also love my mom’s home cooked steak and potatoes and boisen berry pie.
Michael: What’s your background in modeling? When and why did you get started?
Carly: My mom put me in a model search when I was 4 years old and I ended up getting an agent out of it. I did a few pageants and was scouted by one of the producers of the Cosby Show and I was supposed to go to Los Angeles to meet with him, but my parents decided they wanted me to finish school first. So it was my goal to finish school and get on track towards my career. I graduated high school and moved to LA to attend UCLA and go for my career.
Michael: Who are some of your favorite models?
Carly: Candice Swanepoel and Miranda Kerr
Michael: Favorite designers?
Carly: Coach and Versace. They both have a classy chic feel to them.
Michael: Which fashion magazines, websites, blogs, and catalogs do you visit most often?
Carly: I love Cosmo Magazine and I read the Hollywood Reporter. As for websites: Backstage and SAG are the most informational for my acting.
Michael: How would you describe your style – from color to historical eras and more.
Carly: Well, I’m a ranchers daughter so I’m usually pretty casual: jeans, tshirt and a ball cap. But when I dress up I like a few different styles. Sometimes I’m feeling a classy look with pearls and button up blouses and dresses. Sometimes, I’m feeling hipster with lots of fringe and Indian prints and maxi dresses. I wear a lot of black and when I’m going out – I always have to have some sort of heel on. My other style is western attire – cowboy hat, boots, buckle, long sleeve shirts and jeans.
Michael: Where do you generally shop?
Carly: I love little botiques and finding places where you won’t find the same thing anywhere else. I also love to bargain shop, I love Kohls.
Michael: What other modeling projects have you done?
Carly: I have done some western modeling for Wrangler and I have done Halloween costume modeling for Fun World. I also competed for Miss California and I have done some swimsuit modeling. Last year I was named the face of a company called Gypsy Soule and I have done a ton of print work for them.
